Local Commitment | Mike Morgan

Mike Morgan, Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Relationship Manager

Mike Morgan was born and raised in Austin and has watched the city develop around him as he’s built a career in commercial banking throughout the past 15 years. Passionate about the city he’s always called home, Mike shares why he is looking forward to serving local businesses in his new role with The Bank of Austin, how he serves the community outside of work, and what he appreciates about the opportunity to work alongside business owners who are contributing to the city’s continued growth.

What is your experience and career background?

I have been in commercial banking for 15 years. I began my banking career as a credit analyst working on commercial and real estate lending. I then worked as an underwriter and specialized in non-profit, government and healthcare lending. For the past eight years, I have been in the middle market space as a commercial lender.

What is your specialty professionally, and how do you serve your clients through your position at The Bank of Austin?

I serve as a primary business consultant to help build businesses with an array of lending capabilities, treasury management solutions to improve their cash conversion cycle, and technical expertise. As a bank, we are equipped to help businesses through the different stages of their life cycle. With deep roots in Austin, we are built on relationships and doing what is right for our clients.

What are your activities and hobbies outside of work?

Most of my activities outside of work are family oriented. I have been married almost 14 years and have a son in elementary school that is fully into baseball. We enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and spending time outside as much as possible. My personal hobbies include golf, mountain biking, and running.

Which community organizations are you involved with?

I have served as vice chair for the Boy Scouts’ annual Distinguished Citizen Award event. I am currently the den leader for our local Cub Scout troop as well as the treasurer. I am also a coach on my sons 10U baseball team. In the past, I have been involved in the Austin Young Men’s Business League and the Austin Young Chamber.

What inspires you about working in Austin?

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and have lived here my whole life. I am fortunate that my parents, sister, and most of my family live here as well. I am inspired to work in Austin due to my deep connections with the community. Austin has changed a lot over the years, and I am personally invested in its continued success. I went to Anderson High School, which is about a mile away from The Bank of Austin headquarters. It is exciting to see my fellow classmates at networking events, in community organizations, and running successful businesses.

Which of our Texas Partners Bank values resonates most with you in your work, and why?

If I had to select one value, which is not an easy task, it would be ownership. As I partner with commercial business, I take ownership to ensure that service commitments and client expectations are met.
